  1. Apply for the program.

  1. Wait for approval

How to qualify for Lifeline

 If you reside on Tribal lands, you may qualify for a free government phone and additional discounts or benefits under the Lifeline program. Tribal programs that qualify you for Lifeline include the following.

  • Tribal TANF
  • Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance 
  • Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations
  • Tribal Head Start (income based)

Documents needed for Lifeline

To apply for the Lifeline Assistance Program, you must provide certain documents to prove your eligibility. The documents required may vary depending on your state or the phone company, but you may need to provide one or more of the following. 

  1. Proof of participation in a federal government assistance program

 You must provide documentation showing participation in a qualifying government assistance program. This documentation may include a benefits statement, a letter of participation, or an EBT card.

  1. Proof of income
